+ Who Is Teaching & What Style Are We Learning?
Adrienne Smith, Tricia Speidel & Sabrina Ladd
“The way to really learn something is to teach it!.” Power of Your Om’s Teacher Training Program is based on total immersion where you learn by doing. From day one you will be teaching yoga and assisting classes. If you are a current teacher, you will learn how to break out of the traditional “yoga teacher” mold and speak and live what is authentically our own voice with love instead of fear.
If you’ve never taught before, you will learn all this and the skills to become a highly skilled Vinyasa Yoga teacher. If you have no interest in ever teaching yoga, you will still benefit from this process as it will allow you to step out of your comfort zone and into a place of freedom and self expression. For purposes of your final exam, you will be given a sequence of poses to teach but you’ll be encouraged to teach with your own unique expression, variation & style. You will leave teaching like YOU and no one else.
All members of our Teacher Training Team have at least E-200RYT – which means they have taught over 1000 yoga classes. Collectively, the Teacher Training Team has been teaching yoga for 16 years.
+ When Should I Apply For The Training?
Apply for training as soon as you know you want to attend. You will receive $500 off the total program cost if you register and pay in full by September 1st ($3,000 versus $3,400). You may apply as early as you’d like and begin a payment plan on your balance once your application has been accepted. Programs are considered sold out at 16 participants, so early application is recommended to guarantee acceptance.
We work with very new yogis as well as very experienced yoga. teachers. All are welcome. If you have a passion for yoga and a desire to change lives, you are ready to apply for yoga teacher training at Power of Your Om. Because attendance is restricted, all applications are read and evaluated prior to acceptance. There is a waiting list if the training for your desired dates are full.
+ What Is The Application Process Like?
Applying for teacher training is easy. You will fill out our online application, upload a photo & resume, and pay the $250 application fee (100% refundable if you are not accepted). You will hear back on the status of your application in 3-4 days. The $250 is applied to your full tuition.
+ What If I Don't Want To Be A Teacher?
We have many students who come to teacher training because they want to learn more about their own yoga practice – how to enhance your own practice on and off your mat . However, most of these students surprise themselves and begin teaching professional classes before the training is even complete! Whether you want to teach or not, you are welcome to apply for training and come to learn with Adrienne.
+ What Can I Do To Prepare For Training?
Prepare for training by purchasing & reading the required books (see below under curriculum), attending classes at the studio, and learning what poses comprise Sun Salutations A & B in a power vinyasa class. Upon acceptance, you will be sent all of the information you need to get started. Most of the magic will start on day one – show up ready for anything!
+ What Will Be Covered In This Training?
Power of Your Om’s curriculum includes all required elements in a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training program, but also includes an emphasis on teaching early & often, with additional bonus opportunities to teach and assist in live classes at the host studio. + Does The Program Offer Job Placement & Networking Support?
Yes. We are delighted to say that most of our teachers in training begin teaching well before training is complete. Adrienne has connections with a lot of yoga teachers, studios and businesses around the country and will help connect you with others that will help move your teaching path forward. Many of our graduates are successful studio owners looking for teachers and interested in mentoring young teachers. We will continue to share resources & connections whenever we can, especially if you are connected with Power of Your Om on Facebook so that we can see what you are up to and what is most relevant to your yoga business.
+ What Is The Assisting & Apprenticeship Program?
We are here for the long haul and are committed to growing potential teachers into their highest possibility. Trainees are paired with a PoYO teacher during your YTT experience and that relationship will continue after graduation. Once you have completed a training with Power of Your Om or any other 200 Hour yoga teacher training, you will have the opportunity to continue with us as part of our assisting and apprenticeship team.
